The London Breast Institute’s 3rd International Symposium
The London Breast Institute held its 3rd International Symposium on the 20th May at the Royal Institute of Great Britain. Chaired by Professor Karol Sikora, the theme of this year’s lecture focused on “Attitudes to Breast Care: United States vs. Europe”.
The LBI welcomed a host of renowned European and American speakers on the subject of breast disease. Professor Roland Holland (Netherlands) spoke on “The recall, detection and false positive rates in the US and European practice”, and Rocky Billups (recently appointed to The Sarah Cannon Research Institute), presented “Women’s attitudes to specialist breast centres and associated research activity in the USA”.
Dr Nick Perry, Clinical Director of the London Breast Institute delivered a very informative presentation on “The importance of Breast Density at the LBI” and lead surgeon Professor Kefah Mokbel spoke on “Oncological Outcome & Patient Satisfaction with Skin-Sparing Mastectomy & Immediate Breast Reconstruction at The LBI”
Over 165 GP’s and Consultants attended the Symposium and participated in the lively Q&A sessions following each presentation. The event was followed by a champagne reception and buffet in the historical library and an option to tour the Royal Institute’s beautifully refurbished venue and museum.
