Miss Christina Choy

Consultant Surgeon

Miss Choy is a Consultant Breast Surgeon at Homerton University Hospital, Honorary Consultant at St Bartholomew’s Hospital. She graduated from the Medical School of the University of Sydney in 1986. Her postgraduate training has been in various Surgical Units in Australia, Hong Kong and United Kingdom including St Bartholomew’s Hospital and Royal Marsden Hospital.

Her interests are in both female and male benign and malignant breast conditions, oncoplastic approach to breast cancer surgery with immediate breast reconstruction after mastectomy, use of sentinel lymph node biopsy technique, family history breast risk assessment and advice, breast contour re-sculpturing including breast reduction, augmentation and fat transfer.

Her current research is on a study of gene arrays and demographic data of young women especially Afrocarribean presenting with breast cancer. Other projects includes a looking into barriers to women accessing to early diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer in various ethnic groups, developing a 23 hours model for early discharge after breast cancer surgery and auditing efficacy of various methods of detecting axilla nodal cancer metastasis.

Member of the following societies: British Association of Surgical Oncology, Association of Breast Surgeon at BASO, Breast Surgeon International and Breast Section at the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.
